Oh hey, it's been a minute

Oh hey, it's been a minute, huh?

Absolutely wild to me that the last time I made a post here was in 2022. Four years ago. It's been kind of a wild four years honestly; I'll spare you the full story, but the TL;DR is that:

1. I lost my job as a software engineer due to a series of fuck ups that led to me being much more disabled
2. I adopted two gorgeous cats who have become my entire life
3. I got disability benefits finally
4. I moved to Wales!

That last one has been a huge deal for me. I'd wanted to leave the town I grew up essentially since I was a teenager, and I spent most of my life making excuses about why I couldn't possibly go. I reached a point where I just decided, no, I need to be somewhere else. I'd visited Anglesey a lot as a kid, and knew it was beautiful, but it wasn't until a random visit in 2025 made me realise it was where I needed to be. I'm surrounded by nature, there are so many birds everywhere you look, and just down the road from my house I can see mountains. There are no mountains in Warwickshire.

Maybe I will, eventually, find the mountains less interesting, they'll fade into the background just like any other piece of scenery, but for now, seeing them every time I drive out of my small village brings me so much joy and awe at the wonder of the world.
